Covid-19 Surge: Seeking Community Input

The Adams Board of Health is seeking community input into measures to stop the alarming increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. As you know, the current Omicron strain is more highly transmissible than previous strains, leading to a marked increase in hospitalizations & deaths. At our next Board of Health meeting on January 12, we will review information available from local public health experts, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and Centers for Disease Control along with community input. Our goal will be to determine what measures the board can take to make Adams safer. As the most readily available tools against infection and spread are vaccination and masking, we would appreciate suggestions for improving our vaccination rate and necessity/willingness to wear masks indoors in publicly accessible venues.

Written comments may be sent to the Health Department at Adams Town Hall, 8 Park Street, Adams, MA 01220 or emailed to the Board Chair (drhoads@town.adams.ma.us) by 10 am Wednesday, January 12. We will compile your comments for presentation. Should we decide to consider adopting a regulation, we will schedule a Public Hearing for our next meeting for public participation, along with extending the comment period.
