Wastewater Treatment Division

About Us

The Adams Wastewater Treatment Plant is a secondary activated sludge plant that was dedicated and placed into service in the fall of 1971. The plant has been in continuous operation servicing the Town of Adams along with a small industrial park and a small shopping plaza located on the Adams/North Adams boundary line in North Adams.

Our facility has an average daily flow of 2.2 million gallons per day (MGD) with an EPA NPDES permitted monthly average flow of 4.6 MGD between November 1 and May 31 and 3.5 MGD between June 1 and October 31 to discharge final effluent into the Hoosic River.

A total of seven employees operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and three pumping stations. A $3,067,000 facility upgrade project occurred in 2005 to provide energy efficient equipment along with new chemical feed systems to maximize and enhance permit compliance.
