Firearm Licensing

What you need

 To apply for a Resident Firearms License:

You must apply for a resident firearms license to carry or firearms identification card through the police department in the town where you reside. Adams Police Department

You will need to submit:

• A complete resident firearms license application
• The required application fee (See Fee Schedule Below)
• A Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course certificate or a Basic Hunter Safety Course card (For FID Card application).
• A form of identification
• Call the Adams Police the Department and Schedule an Appointment

Renewals

1. Please print off a Massachusetts LTC/FID application form. Fully complete this form and be sure to sign/date the last page of the application form as well as the Affidavit form.
2. Once completed, you can either mail or drop off at the Adams Police Department, the completed application along with a Bank Check or Money Order (Made out to the TOWN OF ADAMS).  See the Fee Schedule below to determine the appropriate fee.

**You do not have to make an appointment for LTC or FID card renewals. Your RMV photograph will be utilized for your LTC/FID card photo. The Adams Police Department utilizes this method for renewals, in order to limit person to person contact, for our safety as well as yours.

First Time Applicants

1. Please print off a Massachusetts LTC/FID application form. Fully complete this form and be sure to sign/date the last page of the application form.
2. You will need a Bank Check or Money Order (Made out to the TOWN OF ADAMS).  See the Fee Schedule below to determine the appropriate fee.
3. Have your Basic Pistol Safety Course certificate (For LTC application), Basic Hunter Safety Course card (For FID Card application).

Please call 743-1212 ext.0 to make an appointment with an available Sergeant or designee, to come to the Adams Police Department to complete your application process. We do not encourage walk-ins for this process, but by appointment only.
